Come with us to the ancient and artistic city of Prague for a month of summertime skill building in cutting-edge neurological therapies. Participate in Socratic method dialogues: lectures, demonstration, hands-on work and live case studies presented to a select group of 30 US practitioners. Assess your own brain in class and build a custom brain-strengthening program for yourself, and complete the course healthier than you arrived! Refine your clinical questions into answerable, actionable steps. Any licensed health care provider who sees mainstream patients or clients should be capable of screening for neurological disorders, and providing appropriate referral, or providing basic functional neurological assessment and functional brain-based therapies. In addition, massage therapists, psychologist, dentists, acupuncturists, physical, speech and occupational therapists, athletic trainers and behavioral optometrists have benefitted from learning how to train and strengthen specific regions of their brain and of their colleagues’ and client’ brains. Some therapies are hands-on and some are simply performed by the client brain exercises.

Spend half days in class, and tour Prague sighs and nearby cities for the month of July with fellow adult neurology learners. Stay on campus in the dorms and get to know your classmates. Take part in grand rounds, where live clients presented with neurological syndromes for bodywork assessment and for appropriate treatment planning. Explore new and established brain exercises for working with and assisting with conditions such as traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, post-stroke, vertigo, migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, disc radiculopathy, multiple sclerosis, allodynia, numbness, Raynaud’s, hypothyroid and other autoimmune conditions. Expand beyond the segmental model of local reflex-based therapies. For the very complex client, learn to clinically untangle the reasons for clinical failure. Follow cases along during your stay and see what your clinical understanding of brain plasticity and supra-segmental pathway stimulation can do in real people.

Functional Neurology for the Body Worker

Functional Neurology – for body workers is a comprehensive field of study and practice. Graduates from this program report increased rates of success when using this method for a wide range of neurologic conditions. This program trains body workers (massage therapists, physical therapists, or other practitioners to work with some conditions solo and some with a doctor’s supervision including; peripheral nerve injury, MTBI (Mild Traumatic Brain Injury), PTSD, mild depression, anxiety, chronic muscle strain, dystonia, some tremor disorders, post stroke massage, post-coma recovery, facial pain, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum, sciatica, common and rare peripheral erve entrapments, and many other neurologic disorders. In addition, sports and learning performance enhancement can be refined using CNB.

A weekend course has been developed to introduce many of these concepts to the practitioner. Neuroanatomical Review for Clinicians. This 16 hour course may qualify for continuing education credits (please inquire) Coming soon to the northwest and Southern California.

The full course is a state-approved educational program comprising of 150 hours including live case studies in massage scope, assessment, and methods for neurological pathology, as well as the popular new field of functional neurology. This program is not about one method. Students should be prepared to critically evaluate all methods in the massage traditions for each individual case based on which receptors and which brain pathways are stimulated or inhibited to achieve balance.

Neuroanatomical Review for Practitioners

Clinical friendly review of the anatomy of the central nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, meninges, grey and white matter, major nuclei and ganglia within the brain and brain-stem. Some medical history taking elements will be included since 90% of diagnosis comes from the history. Emphasis will be placed on establishing a foundation for reading and understanding the literature, preparation for future courses in performing a simple, rapid 3-minute clinical neurological screening examination to rule out or confidently refer neurological cases. This course is also a primer in preparation for study of functional clinical neurological rehab studies in university, continuing medical education or other graduate programs in the future. Selected micro anatomy topics will be covered as well. Building skill in accurately estimating individual skill in neurological assessment. Some pathology will be included for clarity, although this is not intended to be a neuropathology course.
