Neuroanatomical Review for Practitioners
Clinical friendly review of the anatomy of the central nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, meninges, grey and white matter, major nuclei and ganglia within the brain and brain-stem. Some medical history taking elements will be included since 90% of diagnosis comes from the history. Emphasis will be placed on establishing a foundation for reading and understanding the literature, preparation for future courses in performing a simple, rapid 3-minute clinical neurological screening examination to rule out or confidently refer neurological cases. This course is also a primer in preparation for study of functional clinical neurological rehab studies in university, continuing medical education or other graduate programs in the future. Selected micro anatomy topics will be covered as well. Building skill in accurately estimating individual skill in neurological assessment. Some pathology will be included for clarity, although this is not intended to be a neuropathology course.
